* When we are not fundraising, All donations from our Training Jams can be sent directly to one of these efforts (*DTES COVID-19 Relief Fund, *Unist’ot’en Legal Fund, *Hogan Alley Society Campaign) we are supporting. To get to know these funds better, here’s some more insight into these amazing organizations:
DTES COVID-19 Relief Fund
Who they are: DTES Response is a coordinated effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Organizations in the DTES (Downtown East Side) are uniting more than ever to ensure this unprecedented threat does not disproportionately affect the most vulnerable in our communities. They’re mobilizing resources and coordinating operations to immediately respond to this crisis. There are 15,000 people at risk in the DTES which include 3,000 who are unhoused and 4,700 at high risk in privately run SRO’s. They’re mobilizing resources and coordinating operations to mitigate the challenges. They are activating networks in the community to create a stop-gap plan for the most urgent needs.
Why we’re supporting them: Normally N(t)TC would do our Training Jams workshops at Woodward’s which is in the heart of DTES. Although we’re moving TJs online temporarily and are not doing work at Woodwards, we still would like to give back and support the community within the neighbourhood which is N(t)TC’s home.

Unist’ot’en Legal Fund
Who they are: Unist’ot’en Camp, located on Dark House territory of the Gilsehyu Clan, has been a beacon of resistance for over 10 years. It is a space of Indigenous sovereignty dedicated to healing, and an active example of decolonization. The Unist'ot'en are facing mounting legal fees in order to protect their unceded territory. To date, more than $400K has been spent on the injunction proceedings and a related Judicial Review. Funds are needed for upcoming legal costs to see the Judicial Review to completion and advance other legal challenges.
Why we’re supporting them: N(t)TC acknowledges Indigenous sovereignty and the nations that make up the lands where we, as settlers, work, play, and live. By helping the Unist’ot’en of the Wet’suwet’en territories fight to protect the land and water on their territories, it also inevitably provides frontline action during the climate crisis. We’re believers to both those actions as a Collective.

Hogan Alley Society Campaign
Who they are: The Hogan’s Alley Society (HAS) is a non-profit organization composed of civil rights activists, business professionals, community organizations, artists, writers and academics committed to daylighting the presence of Black history in Vancouver and throughout British Columbia. HAS adopts research driven approach to community development that seeks to preserve and promote the historical, cultural, societal and economic contributions made by Black Settlers and their descendants to Vancouver, Greater Vancouver, the Province of British Columbia, the Pacific Northwest and Canada. With this history in the archives, HAS is in process of developing partnerships with local government and business interests to acquire and develop land and operate assets as a community land trust.
Why we’re supporting them: N(t)TC acknowledges the movement right now for social justice and change for Indigenous, Black, and POC folks in the world. We are an equity-seeking artist collective that has been trying our best in creating workshops and shows that consider the communities we operate with and within. We feel that Hogan Alley Society Campaign is a great local organization that centers the history, culture, and empowerment of Black people in Vancouver and BC. They’re also so close to reaching their fundraising goal of $400 K, so we’d like to help them the best we can!
